Frequently Asked Questions

  • Ceramic jewelry can be fragile, but when properly cared for, will last you a lifetime!

    • The oils from your skin transfer to the metal, and need to be washed off periodically. Gently wash using a soft cloth, gentle soap and water. Rinse well, pat dry, and air dry. Avoid using harsh scrubbers like sponges or toothbrushes as the metal layer can and will tarnish or scratch if you are rough with cleaning or hitting tough surfaces.

    • Always place your jewelry on soft surfaces when not being worn to avoid rubbing and scratching the surface.

    • When taking your jewelry on and off be, take care not to drop them. Ceramics is especially prone to breakage on hard surfaces such as brick, concrete, tile, and marble.

    • When traveling, put a protective layer between each piece, and pack them to avoid movement. If possible, it is recommended storing them in a hard case to avoid pressure from clothing or other items.

  • Because all items are handmade in a variety of shapes and sizes, weight may vary.
Studs typically weigh 1-2 grams per pair, small dangles are 2-3 grams per pair, medium dangles are 3-4 grams per pair, and large dangles can range from 3-8 grams per pair.

  • Non-hypoallergenic materials are typically inexpensive low melting point metals such as brass and nickel that cause an allergic reaction resulting in rashes, itchiness, red marks, swelling, or even blisters.

Hypoallergenic jewelry is made of higher-grade and purer materials, such as sterling silver, gold, titanium, platinum and niobium making them safe for sensitive skin.

  • Gold filled is made from a process that heats and pressure bonds a solid 14K gold layer to a brass core. This process produces an extremely durable, quality product that will last for many years. Gold filled is regulated by law that the finished piece must have a layer of gold that is at least 5% of the item’s weight.

Gold filled jewelry should not be confused with gold plated jewelry. Gold plated jewelry is made from metal that is dipped into a thin film of gold. Gold plated jewelry doesn’t last long and will often chip or flake off and turn your skin green.

  • Titanium is a biocompatible metal meaning it is not harmful to living tissue, the body doesn’t reject it, and is resistant to bacteria. Because of this it is completely hypoallergenic and ideal for for anyone with allergies/sensitive skin.

  • Niobium is highly biocompatible just like titanium making it 100% hypoallergenic and ideal for anyone with allergies or skin sensitivities. It also has virtually no susceptibility to tarnish, which makes maintaining your jewelry easy.
Niobium jewelry is suitable to leave in for long periods of time because it does not react with bodily fluids. You won't have to worry about the metal changing your skin colors, and the metal itself will not turn colors either.
